In chapter 15, Annie and Chris accidentally drive into the bear's cage of a rain-wrapped tornado. Their SUV is lifted from the road and rolls several times before coming to a stop in a field. They are uninjured and surprised to still be alive, and in the aftermath of that, Chris kisses her. Annie doesn't let him pull away, kissing him back and climbing onto his lap. They make out, her shirt comes off, but he puts an end to it and she remembers that she's still with Marc.
